Our resident male Ruby Throat, Gabe, left early this morning. I had a feeling it would be today because last evening he was feeding often and long and was the last hummer to turn in and roost for the night. Our other male left a few days ago. I took a picture of Gabe yesterday on a test tube feeder his favorite. I sure enjoyed watching him this summer. He would perch high in an oak tree so he could keep watch on all but one of our numerous feeders (ports and tubes). He did a lot of chasing and ambushing this past month. Godspeed little one on your journey south. You sure will be missed. I must say a little bit of sunshine left with him.
