Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/01/2014

Number: 1

I brought my daughter and son to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor this past Labor Day and we were both very excited to see the number of Monarch Larva we saw. It was a hot 91 degrees so we only stayed for a couple of hours but even in that short amount of time I have never seen so many Monarch Larva, Chrysalides, and Butterfly's in one place before, it was amazing. The caterpillar's looked very well fed and were crawling all over everything. We probably saw close to 50 caterpillars that day.
They seemed to especially love the Bloodflower milkweed plant.
