Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/01/2014

Number: 10

I brought my son and daughter to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens this past Labor Day and was so impressed with the number of adult Monarch butterfly's we saw flying around as well as several Larva crawling all over everything. It was a hot 91 degree day and we were there at about 1-2pm.
We even saw two larva hanging in the "J" position and a couple Chrysalides hanging from an outside shed.
Bloodflower milkweed seems to be the plant they were most abundant on.
I was not able to get a good picture of the butterfly's in flight but have included a picture of one of the Chrysalides we saw.
