Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/03/2014

Number: 1

We have three native plant gardens for learning on campus. One is a Certified Monarch Waystation, the second is a native urban meadow, and the newest is a rain garden. All three have milkweed, of different kinds. Today when the students went to look for Monarch caterpillars, they found more than we have ever seen before. We probably saw at least 30 a different stages of development. There were Monarch larvae in all three gardens. The students felt such excitement as did the whole school since we adopted the Monarch 10 years ago as our "Save Our Species" project.
