We had 8 monarch caterpillars this year, however, we were only able to observe 1 go into j position and chrysalis. On September 1 she had been in the chrysalis for 14 days, the chrysalis had been dark for about a week. We noticed a hole in the chrysalis, but it was not a normal opening. I think that she must have had the oe disease we have read about. I hope that the other cats emerged OK. Is this disease common? We have lots of milkweeds--should we worry about next year? What can we do? Glad to hear that the monarchs had a good year. Sorry Sharon and John
