Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/04/2014

Number: 6

Six juvenile and female ruby throats in dispute over 4 feeders. The two juvenile males who had begun to grow some gorget ruby feathers have apparently moved on. I did not see them either yesterday or today. The juveniles I am seeing now do not have any ruby feathers at their throats. I still have some adult females present. They are noticeably larger than the juveniles and have duller feathers. All are feeding heavily at the feeders. Today began partly cloudy but is now mostly sunny. Current temp at noon is 84 F and somewhat breezy at 10-15 mph from SE. Humidity at 55% and growing.
