Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/04/2014

Number: 7

Added a 7th bird...a juvenile male with a beginning gorget (this is the first immature male seen with any ruby feathers today). He showed up mid day and guarded the feeders for about 4 hours. I don't think he was one of my regulars--he scouted the feeders for several minutes before finally feeding. Once fed (he tanked up thoroughly), he went and sat in the althea bush in a spot none of my rubies had been using. Oh, he just showed up again...using the same resting spot as earlier and once again guarding the feeders.
