Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/03/2014

Number: 38

Yesterday (9/3) at the Rosetta McClain Gardens Raptor Watch we counted 38 migrating Monarchs. Almost all were flying low along the top edge of the bluffs. They were likely taking advantage of the winds blowing off the lake and up the side of the bluffs, as several raptors do. This was the first day that we noted any sign of true migration.

Rosetta McClain Gardens is situated atop the Scarborough Bluffs in the east end of Toronto. Coordinates are: 43.415185, -79.152275
