Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/04/2014

Number: 15

We had seen a huge number of migrating monarchs in this exact spot 2 years ago.

We went back to the same location last year during the same week (first week in September) and saw none.

Today we saw 15 adults, busy feeding on the abundant milkweed and golden rod in a mountain meadow clearing off the East Pond Hiking Trail near Osceola Mountain just outside the White Mountain National Forest.

We were overjoyed that they are back, although so many fewer than 2 years ago.

We will go again each day we are still up here this week. We'll report on our sightings.
