Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/04/2014

Number: 30

At Hwy 169 and Canterbury Road in Shakopee watched a group of 20 adults stream across the highway going due south. They were in a loose collection and all 20 went by in about 30 seconds. I was in stop n go traffic for about 20 minutes and only moved a few miles. After this group of 20 there were ones and twos crossing until total of at least 30. Hard to count when driving and mesmerized by these beautiful creatures. I noticed the roadside along those miles were unmowed and full of late blooming natives, especially goldenrod. Seeing LOTS of unmoved roadsides everywhere going "au naturale"! Could it be the word is getting out and the highway department is responding? Love it!
