Over a period of about 3 hours, I saw around 75 monarchs. About 15 of those were spied flying near/over the road as I was driving. I tagged 25 at a nearby arboretum, and saw at least 35 more that I wasn't able to tag in the same location. There was a Mexican sunflower plant, on which there were always 10-15 monarchs at any given time over a 2-hour period.
I also saw two monarchs mating(?) The male was very old--faded and worn. While tagging, I also caught a monarch that I had tagged one week previously in the same location (local arboretum).
