Since August 1st, huge influx of hummers here in central MO, emptying 12 feeders every day, having to fill up twice daily and during the summer it was only once a day. Cooking at least 24 cups of sugar water daily, with an extra batch thrown in on off days. Most of the ones here now are females and juveniles, # of hummers hasn't decreased, seems to be more. Expected a drop in the past couple weeks, hasn't happened. Can't tell if these are still my summer family of if they are just passing thru. At least 5 to 8 birds on each feeder, not a lot of fighting, just a lot of drinking and socializing. Also hitting the flowers a lot too. Sad to see them go. They brighten my summer.
