Just when you are about to give up because it seems that all surrounding milkweed gardens have cats, WE FINALLY HAVE THEM!!! One week earlier this year, to the day! I went to the garden to weed and saw an cat less than 1cm long eating a tropical milkweed flower bud. I continued to look at other plants and saw at least 10 cats the same size on other tropical plants, none on our common milkweed. We had a torrential rain two days earlier. The humidity is high and temps in the 90's. I suppose the perfect time to come out from under the leaf and begin this wonderful cycle. Looking for more each day now, will raise with 2nd grade students, tag and release. Such happiness!
