Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/07/2014

Number: 1

Saw the first male ruby throat today feeding at petunias. Since 8/27, all I have seen is females and juveniles which visit feeders daily, usually 2-3 at a time and of course the fighting. I managed to get them to feed from my hand with a small tube feeder but a little unnerving when a bird zooms in inches from your face. I noticed they seem to strike the bills since you could hear the clack. It was also amazing to feel the wind from their wings and hear the buzzing. One came within inches of my nose and looked me in the eye and started chripping. It was amazing.
