After a torrential rainstorm Saturday night, the next day was beautiful and sunny with temps in the high 70's and a North Wind. I spotted 56 Monarchs flying from east to west on the south shore (Atlantic Ocean) of Long Island. I observed for almost 6 hours, however the majority of the monarchs were spotted over a two hour period between 2 and 4 pm. The monarchs were flying with over a thousand dragonflies and damselflies of every shape and size. Very magical.
