Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/09/2014

Number: 2

Two monarchs are nectaring in the field as I look out the window. I'm surprised to see them because most of the clover is going to seed. In past years, clover bloom-time matched fall migration (simply due to time of mowing). With so little clover in bloom now, it's hard to compare monarch numbers this year to years past. Nectar sources are certainly key for seeing large numbers of migrants! I'm going to makes sure mowing is coordinated next year.
