Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/09/2014

Number: 30

I saw several individuals flying in a southwest direction across the roads I drive on my bus route. Later in the morning a group of about 25 gathered in the area sheltered from the southwest wind by the bus barn. They would gather by the water puddles and then continue on their way flying close to the ground in the migratory direction. This is our first observation of a consistent flight direction to the southwest. Will be looking for signs of staging and roosts during the next few days.
