gliding at slow relaxed pace protected from the wind by the tall trees in the park but not stopping to nectar on garden plants such as Helianthus, Buddleia or coneflower as was common last week. The onshore wind was forcing movement towards the southwest along the shoreline (towards Kingsville and no doubt, Holiday Beach.
No signs of mating activity or even male territoriality.
As the sun set, four late arrivals from the cornfields north of Leamington arrived at a roosting area on a relic homestead's overmature landscaping material reaching 90 feet skyward from a good Goldenrod patch. All were fresh.
The coming storms may cause accumulation of migrants there.
