This was the first monarch I've seen in our yard this season, perhaps traveling ahead of the cool front scheduled to bring rain to Austin later today. Unfortunately, there is not much for monarchs to feed on yet in our yard because of generally hot, dry conditions. The monarch flitted around the garden, stopping on plants that should bloom soon with some rain: lantana, black dahlia, tropical milkweed, mistflower. The few tropical milkweed plants we have are plagued by aphids. We'd like to have antelope horns milkweed, but haven't found a source. Any ideas?
