Chilly, approx 46 degrees, with a cold rain and NE wind of about 7 MPH in the habitat tonight. Our little guests were staying close to their nectar feeders this evening with a great deal of activity from 6-7:30 PM. I cleaned and filled all the feeders with warm nectar as it rained--this activity provides a great opportunity for observation and interactions. As their hostess I like to think my elegant guests enjoy warm nectar on cold mornings and evenings :) Whether this is fact or fiction, I do not know :) Most feeders had 2 or 3 hummingbirds. The last guest was seen at 7:57 PM and then she tucked in for the night. The weather channel predicts the temperatures will "feel like 40 degrees" by 6 AM--daylight will arrive at approx 7:15 with my chilly hummingbird guests.
