Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/12/2014

Number: 3

High of 77F today, mostly sunny, light breezes...low forecast for low 60's tonight. I saw 3 at once early this morning on the feeders, but by this evening I only saw 2 at once. After having eaten 4 oz. a day for a couple of days, the RT hummers only consumed 3 oz. today...sadly, I will be losing them for the year soon. Tomorrow may hasten them on their way...light rain possible most of the day.

I had an encounter with a very impudent, feisty, juvenile male hummer tonight. While I was bent over planting my front flower bed with pansies near dusk, he buzzed me, grabbing my hair as he went by. Obviously, he thought I was too close to "his" feeder. I went in for a bit so he could feed in peace. My "regulars" treat me better.
