Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/13/2014

Number: 2

Only saw two hummers at once today. But the big surprise was I saw an adult male today--the first one in 2 weeks. The juvenile males here only have a partial gorget and have white tail feathers yet. This bird had a complete gorget and no white on its tail. It fed heavily, rested on a small branch then flew off south. There was definitely less activity at the feeder this evening.

Temp. 64 F constant from noon to dusk, cloudy until dusk, drizzle off and on, light breezes from NW (blowing toward SE), RT hummers consumed 3 oz. today. I suspect there will be fewer birds tomorrow morning if the winds blowing to the south continue. Forecast low is upper 50's.
