Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/13/2014

Number: 1

I was very surprised to see an adult male at one of my feeders this morning. He was the first adult male seen in 2 weeks (last one was 9/1/14.) He had a full gorget and no white tail feathers and the pointed tail feathers of an adult. He fed heavily at the feeder, finally moving off to a small branch for a short rest. After about 3-4 minutes he flew off to the south.

He was clearly a migrant--he circled the front area, checked out all 3 feeders by circling round them before finally deciding on one, then fed. Temp 64 F, light breezes from NE blowing toward SE,cloudy. This is the first day we had breezes blowing toward the south for over a week.
