Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/10/2014

Number: 1

This female is the first and only, so far, observed at our Monarch Watch Waystation in Gadsden County Florida this summer/fall. She was observed depositing eggs on our Tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica). Our native milkweeds are still rather small. Last year by this time we had over a 100 caterpillars. Using protective sleeves, 72 achieved adulthood and were examined for OE, tagged and released. We are hoping that more females are coming.
