We have both male and female ruby throated hummingbirds. We have one female in particular that sits on a trellis and guards the feeders. We put out a third feeder to help out the hummingbirds that are being chased away from the other two feeders. We have hummingbird friendly flowers on two levels of our house. It is so nice to see so many hummingbirds. All summer we only had two birds that frequented our feeder.
