Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/14/2014

Number: 3

In 2012 we saw hundreds in roosts and nectaring on goldenrod. In 2013, same weekend, we saw 1-2. This year 3. They were strong and huge which gave us hope. The goldenrod is just barely starting to bloom so perhaps we were a week early. We worry about them crossing the bay. Birding was good - both in terms of the resident birds and warblers - esp American Redstarts, vireos and more.
