Small numbers of overnight migrants departed westward from the downtown area as favourable gentle winds returned and temperatures rose by noon. Few were feeding on fresh red clover except 6 soft-winged males (with yellow spots) at one good butterfly site abundant with Pecks Skippers, a few Wild Indigo Duskywings, and a Painted Lady near the streambank supporting Milkweed, Goldenrod and Asters. The afternoon sun completed the drying process, but these Monarchs stayed behind.
These would represent local recruitment to the migrant population from under 3 acres of commercial-urban-agriculture mix.
