This was another excellent day for monitoring monarch butterflies at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. The day was sunny, and the temperature was near 60 degrees. In two hours and a half, 285 monarchs were observed nectaring on the many fields of sunflowers. Another 15 monarchs were seen along the roadways.
