Hundreds of monarchs were gathering along "Sunnyside Park" in Toronto. The park is on the north shore of Lake Ontario. As the day became cooler the monarchs were collecting in the upper branches of the willow trees. I had observed them throughout the day floating through the south end of the city, just above the lake. I had counted 72 and then decided to head to the lake where I was sure I would see more. And I did. Can't help but feel that the numbers will be better this year. I had counted 21 throughout the summer and was happy with that. But this day was spectacular.
