I saw monarchs passing through on Saturday and Sunday- 9/14 and 9/15/14. I saw a few dozen when I went for a jog in West Des Moines, IA around 11:00 in the morning. I tried to take some pictures of them, but they were on a mission. I also saw some flying over Saylorville Lake, near Ankeny, Iowa on Sunday afternnon. I did manage to get some pictures of those. Tricky little buggers to catch on camera. It's exciting to see more this year.
