Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/16/2014

Number: 1

I have been checking the field adjacent to my property since mid August when I sighted the Monarch. A friend of mine who lives about 25 miles south has found over 100 caterpillars. She has noted that she has only been finding them on the pink “swap” milkweed and not the “purple”. Today I walked into the field once more examining the entire purple milkweed population with no luck. I happened to spot a pink milkweed and there was the caterpillar. I only found one and it was about 2 inches in length.
