Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/16/2014

Number: 1

Our team is happy to report that this afternoon brought a nice steady flight of monarchs in to Cape May Point!!! We had a gentle NW wind all day. The dragonflies were also sailing in on the winds. We hope to report more in the coming weeks.

Yes, we've been waiting and hoping they'd arrive!! Our census results; 55.6 monarchs per hour which translates to at least 500 monarchs through CM. The census was done 3 times for about 18 minutes each time. The interns tagged at least 50 plus butterflies. The weather was sunny, 73 degrees with a light north west wind.
