Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/17/2014

Number: 350

I thought the monarchs were slowing down, but the flow continued very steady 10am to 2pm today. At times close to 6 per minute passing our hawk watch at Rosetta McClain. A conservative 350+ monarchs today. Tagged 7. Interesting that so many go by high and occasionally through the day they start landing and feeding in the park. I'm not sure what starts this process, sun, temp, wind? but the change in the monarch flow is very noticeable when it occurs. Terry
