Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/17/2014

Number: 180

180 Monarchs were counted at 9:50-10:00AM. The wind was from the Northwest. In the afternoon the wind shifted to the Southeast and a ten minute count dropped to 18 monarchs. Apparently the west wind blows them toward Lake Michigan (Our Campus is on the Western shoreline) and they concentrate along the shoreline when the wind direction is from the West or Northwest.
