Ed Cole of the AuSable Valley Audubon Club called me today and stated that the monarchs he reported last night (9/17) were still at the point at Tawas Point State Park this morning (9/18). The cold front is passing through today with winds from the north at 12-15 mph and the temperature was 51F. I would think that some of those monarchs were from my observations at Harrisville State Park a couple of days ago which is 30 miles north of Tawas. Today (9/18) I had no sightings at Harrisville State Park or Harrisville town.
Editor's note: We've re-dated this report from 9/18 to 9/17, the night the roost formed.
