Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/19/2014

Number: 2

This female floated down to the garden like a falling leaf on a light breeze, tried the dwarf butterfly bush, tried the phlox, then settled for the purple butterfly bush flower which was in the shade. After several minutes sipping, she went to the Joe-pye weed, now in seed, and perched with wings outstretched to the sun. Warmed up, she went back to the flower, then back to the sun. She flew north, slicing the southeast breeze. Meanwhile, a second monarch 100 feet in the air, also flew north. The wind turns around late Sunday.
