Bald Eagle

Date: 09/20/2014

Number: 1

I went out on my second floor deck and as I looked out over Long Island Sound (in the direction NW) I spotted a very large bird perched at the top of a very high tree. I checked with my binoculars and confirmed it was a Bald Eagle, but looked to be a juvenile, due to the fact that the feather colors were not yet showing. The tree is on Knollwood Drive, one block from my street. I noticed the bird around 9 am and it stayed there for approximately 1 hr to 1hr and 15 minutes. While perched the eagle pruned its wings and spent the entire time cleaning itself and opening and closing its wings.

I did not have a telescopic camera to obtain a good picture, but did get a few shots with my iPhone which I will try to expand and upload soon.
