On 8/16/14 I reported seeing three monarchs in NE Albuquerque. I started checking out milkweed for eggs and four days later collected 34 eggs and brought them inside. 33 Caterpillars hatched 5 days later. All 33 survived and by September 8 there were 33 chrysalids. 9 of them emerged on 9/19/14 and were released on 9/20/14. ALL WERE FEMALE. 10 emerged on 9/20/14. 6 were male, 4 were female. 14 left to go. We continue to see monarchs as the 19 released butterflies return to feed on flowers in our yard.
