Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/21/2014

Number: 6

We had well over a dozen Ruby Throat in our yard at one time until today. With cooler weather and a north wind it appears a fair number of our birds have moved on. We still see 4 or 5 at one time but not the numbers we had been seeing prior to the last cold front. We had a couple of juvenile males until a day or so ago. They packed up and left a day before the females started leaving. Most of the females we have left appear to be this years birds. Some are fairly slim and are at the feeders often between bug hunts. Most are getting along better now that the days are shorter!
