I need to correct my earlier posting. At dusk I realized that there were actually 5 hummingbirds in my yard. 2 of them were sitting on black and blue salvia plants. They appeared very young and unsure of themselves. The other 3 were fighting and chasing. I'm not sure if I am on a Wisconsin migration route as last year on the 27th I saw 20-25 hummingbirds stop for a quick drink and head out. It was amazing to watch! I have had a constant daily stream of hummingbirds in and out of my yard since the end of August . I also have a lot of food up here that I protect until October with freeze cloths, etc. I have 10 30 inch pots of salvia, mandeville, flowering dew drop, lantana, hibiscus, butterfly bush, etc......
