Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/22/2014

Number: 2

Last March I researched for Monarch-friendly plants, as well as for other butterflies, and created a butterfly garden. Finally, just yesterday (9/22) I was rewarded. Two big, beautiful monarchs! They came at different times, but sizes were different so I know it was 2. They flitted around and landed on the milkweed which was blooming for them. They drank from the blossoms, but didn't spend much time on the leaves.
I also saw a gulf fritillary, on purple porter weed.
My milkweed has orange aphids, and pinky-sized beige bugs resembling the lady bug shape. The plants are all eaten up.
