Signs of Fall

Date: 09/23/2014

Number: 1

Yesterday was the first day of fall. Today was the first day we observed for signs of fall. It was 71 degrees F at 1:00 pm when we observed. We saw: 2 turkey vultures flying, several dragonflies, several different kinds of unidentified insets, a moth camouflaged on the brick wall, a unidentified butterfly, 2 unidentified brown birds flying, and we heard a cardinal, crows, and crickets. We saw several seeds floating in the air. The sky was blue with puffy clouds and the clouds were moving towards the west. It was a breezy day. Most of the trees are green, but there are a few red leaves in our woods. A sugar maple has changed to yellows and orange colors. There were a couple leaves on the ground from the tulip poplar. The grass is mostly green.
