Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/23/2014

Number: 12

The weather is warming up again. Mid-70s all week. So I think some of the hummingbirds don't want to leave (can't blame them). I'm still occasionally seeing two at a time fighting over the feeders. Mostly, it's one at a time taking long drinks. I took down the feeder in the sun today when it was overtaken with yellow jackets. A hummingbird showed up about 10 minutes later, squawking and demanding his nectar. I have a wasp trap out, but it's only minimally helping. Once the sun goes behind the neighbors' house, the yellow jackets disappear and the hummers come back. Not sure what more I can do for them. I also have multiple feeders in the shade and hanging baskets of flowers.
