I had a swarm of at least 12 rufous hummingbirds that have departed sometime between the end of August and September when I returned from a three week trip. When I got home there seem to be about six hummers remaining. Now, on September 24, I only have seen 2 for the last week or so.
They seem to be competing for the feeder. The one that I have observed closely has a greenish back, a small red spot on its throat, and a prominent white ring below that. I thought this couple might be Anna's hummingbirds but I don't know if the white ring is part of their coloring. The other one appears to be more grayish. Both are stocky.
