Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/25/2014

Number: 1

I have observed 14 eggs/larva in my back yard on Mexican milkweed (Asclepias curassivica. The sizes of those larva now range from 6mm to 22mm. This is the first year I have had milkweed in my yard and it is paying off for the Queens (earlier) and now Monarchs.

NOTE: In this area there are Antelope horns (Asclepias asperula); Green milkweed (Asclepias viridian (sp)) and Zizotes milkweed (A. oenotheroides). I have observed that both Queens and Monarchs both have a less saturated washed out color when feeding on Green milkweed (A. viridian) This program will not accept the proper spelling.

If anyone has comments on different larva colors when feeding on Green milkweed I would like to learn about it.
