This was in our paper yesterday:
"These Monarch Butterflies were gathering in a tree on north Sherman Sunday evening (September 21), taking a breather before continuing their long trip to Mexico where they will hibernate for the winter before heading north again next spring. Monarch butterflies are not able to survive the cold winter of most of the United State so they migrate south and rest each autumn to escape the cold weather. The monarch migration usually starts in about October of each year, but can start earlier if the weather turn cold sooner than that."
