Today was much colder with temps in the 60s. This is the first day in at least a week when I have not seen a Monarch. Yesterday it was 80 degrees with no wind. I saw two Monarchs stop for a quick sip at the New England Asters but only for a few minutes then they were on their way. I'll be surprised if I see another Monarch this year. I'm glad I planted Asters in several areas of my yard. The asters grew at different rates and produced a longer bloom season. I still have one area of Asters blooming. Asters were definitely the Monarch's favorite. They ignored the phlox and zinnas once the asters were in bloom.
