60 kilometers north of Montreal, the leaves were at full peak colours. Gorgeous scenery! Merganzer pair were still swimming about, as were the loons. Lake water was icy...no swimming possible, but fun to take a kayak around the lake and breathe in the golden autumn air. Thought we might have heard some late geese, but the week before, we saw straggler geese heading towards the Ottawa river (west of us, not south), where they congregate and then depart in huge flocks. Hummingbirds were gone also as of last weekend. Days are shorter. But the colours! I'll try to include a photo.
