Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/30/2014

Number: 1

A summary of this past weeks sightings, have a mated pair still here. The male is patrolling what is left of the milkweed. The female is laying eggs on the wilted, yellowing common milkweed. I don't understand why she's doing that. I do have swamp & tropical milkweed in better shape. I've noticed several new stalks of the common coming up again. It is very dry here, but we are able to irrigate it.
Haven't had too many migratory monarchs, maybe 5 in the past week.
The patrolling male seems to harass them & they don't stay very long.
