While commuting downtown via express bus to the Metro station, I saw a total of six monarchs flying south at "migration level" (20-40 feet up; is also roughly treetop level around here). Two of the monarchs were traveling "singly", while the last four I saw were in a V-shaped grouping, not unlike what birds do!! I was SO surprised by this, a definite first for me. Fascinating...
